For four thousand years, Fargeus city has stood untouched despite the many destructions that plague their lands. Safe from the waves of death, which claimed countless empires. Those born under the chalice’s protection are blessed and gifted with magic from the gods.
The chalice is connected to the old gods. A powerful protection against the many dangers of the world, but Utopia doesn’t come free. The chalice has one demand: sacrifice. Every three years, the contract between the people and the gods must be renewed. Two sacrifices must be chosen.
In more recent times, there have been some changes. The sacrifices now have a choice: love or blood. They have one year to fall in love with one another, or the old methods will be used and their lives claimed.
Blood or love, this is their choice. However, when Harmony Karmasass’ name comes out of the chalice, soon followed by Thomas Zekes (a man she can honestly say she hates), love is not an option.
With only a year left to live – and all the luxuries which now come with being a sacrifice – Harmony decides to try and make what little time she has left count.
